The Form of the Book

So many of the world’s typographic problems could be solved if contemporary book designer’s read this book. And editors should it read it, too. There are basic graphic and typographic principles that are detailed here that seem to be completely unknown to most book designers. Why is this? Probably because it’s not sexy stuff and people are so anxious to break rules—never mind the fact that they don’t know what the rules are. (Don’t get us started.) This book lays out sound and useful guidelines developed by someone who cared deeply and studied extensively. We are grateful this book was available when we were getting started.
