The Graphic Art of Hnizdovsky
Oh, Jacques Hnizdovsky. How do we love thee? Let we count the ways. First, we’ll start (and end) with this book produced on the occasion of an exhibition at Yale in 1977. What a useful reference—most especially because it includes a list of books he designed and/or illustrated. What a perfect reference if one ever wants to put together an exhibition of books he designed and/or illustrated. A sweet (and uncommon) thing showing what can be done with thoughtful care and a plank of wood. Also, it’s a good reminder of Ukraine. (He was Ukrainian.) Don’t forget there’s a war going on there, too.
