Art & Project Bulletin 40: Daniel Buren
The Amsterdam gallery Art & Project (1968–2001) was pivotal to the development of contemporary art in the Netherlands and beyond for more than thirty-three years. Or, so begins the description of the recent monograph on the gallery. We first noticed their bulletins as lovely examples of design. A little Univers. A little typewriter. A nice Air Mail notice. A nice postage stamp. But the meat of the item is dazzling arrangement of photographs of a piece by French conceptual artist Daniel Buren (b. 1938) which was removed from the Sixth Guggenheim International in 1971.
