It’s obviously some sort of promotional item for Byrrh (pronounced "beer"), a French aromatized wine-based apéritif created in 1866, blending red wine, mistelle (unfermented grape juice), and quinine. It opens on the bottom, where that dark blue stripe is but we’re not sure for what purpose. It’s not the right structure for a hat—although one could wear it on their head if they wanted. The side we’re showing proclaims that “I love anyone who loves Byrrh.” Love is nice. And we bet Louise Fili muse have loved this because she bought it and had it in her collection until she passed it along to us. Now let us pass it along to you (in exchange for a few bucks). Also, this is the very item reproduced on page 17 of Louise Fili and Steve Heller’s Scripts.
