Le Service Shell à travers le Sahara
Most often, Philippe Weisbecker's drawings record a series of objects or buildings. These series are usually recorded in old school notebooks or sketchbooks. This new facsimile is no exception to the rule: administrative buildings, trucks, mosques, and pumps inhabit a paper desert filled with a cryptic logic. For this new book, the author was inspired by The Sahara’s Automobile and Air Tourism Guidebook, intended for a wealthy clientele eager for adventure. It is an opportunity for Weisbecker to immerse himself in the atmosphere described to him as a child by his father who lived there in the 1930s. Absolutely magical. As are these.
