Leanne Shapton: Queen Anne’s Lace

If you’re like us, you’ve always had a thing for Daucus carota—more commonly known as Queen Anne’s Lace. Here Leanne Shapton has painted a dazzling specimen of the plant that is roughly hairy, with a stiff, solid stem. This original painting was made for American Wildflowers and is part of our current exhibition of Leanne’s work made for that book.

Leanne Shapton is an author, artist, and publisher based in New York City. She is currently the art editor at The New York Review of Books and is the co-founder of J&L Books, an imprint specializing in art and photography books. Her works have appeared in various publications such as The New York TimesGranta, and The New Yorker.

Note: This piece will ship after January 14, 2023, when the exhibition comes down.
