Lettera
Books on typography are, taken as a whole, in accordance with the occupation of the compiler, either a collection of typefaces drawn from classical sources or a conglomeration of the willful creations of a graphic designer, which correctly applied, are the privilege of the creator. What the modern designer (circa 1954) needs is a careful compilation of those types which a person unacquainted with broad pen lettering can easily copy. In short, a book which comprises both classical and modern types, carefully chosen with regard to form, originality, and usefulness. With sixty-two alphabets and over 190 examples of words set in faces from Europe and the United States, this is that book. And we’re gonna regret letting it go.
