During the first decades of the nineteenth century there was a flourishing of a new letterforms created to meet the requirements of commercial printing, which had reached a stage of great development. Among these new forms, the black ornamented face after the Bodoni design took a preeminent place. Normandia Outline by Aldo Novarese revives the nineteenth century designs which are still applicable for present day typography. (Or, the was true when the Normandia family was released between 1944 and 1951.)
