Soy Cuba: Cuban Cinema Posters from After the Revolution

We give up. We bought copies of this book in 2019 in preparation for a talk here by one of its authors. That talk was scheduled for April 22, 2020—the height of the Covid lockdown. It seems unlikely that we’ll have that talk in April 2021. See you in April of 2022? In the meantime, here’s a teaser: Soy Cuba presents a selection of the finest film posters produced in Cuba from the 1950s until the early 1970s. Famous around the world for their brash originality and bright, clear graphic sensibility, Cuban cinema posters of the Revolutionary era are held in as high esteem as the moodier and more abstract Polish film posters of the same era. This is good work made just ninety miles off the coast of Florida.
