Our fifty-fourth Standing-Room-Only Lecture will feature Gregory Hischak coming from the “Sea Captains’ Paradise” to talk about Edward Gorey, his life, his work, and his lettering. We’ll get an overview of Gorey’s life and his weaving of the nineteenth century and the modern, and the talk will touch on the 2026 exhibit at the Edward Gorey House: O Sordid Type: Edward Gorey’s Art of Lettering.
Our speaker, Gregory Hischak, is a writer, performer, and designer who has created exhibits at the Edward Gorey House since 2014. He is the author of E Is for Edward: A Centennial Celebration of the Mischievous Mind of Edward Gorey, and he has been the Gorey House’s director since 2020.
Tickets are available for $10 each.

Standing-Room Only Lectures aim to present short talks about graphic design, typography, and collecting. The lectures are kept to about twenty minutes because—true to its name—the series takes place in our standing-room only gallery. So, wear comfortable shoes and bring a short attention span.
