Gebrauchsgraphik (Vol. 21, 1950, No. 6)

$40.00

When one works on books about slabs, serifs, shadows, and scripts, one needs a lot of examples around. Like, when Louise Fili was working on Scripts, she picked up this copy of Gebrauchsgraphik, a mag of International Advertising Art. First, check that lettering on the cover. It’s totally swoon-worthy. And it’s just a striking cover. Inside, though, the issue is loaded with midcentury lettering, type, ads, and graphics. Chances are good you won’t be able to read much of it since it’s in German, but there are clues in here to other things. The good stuff is hidden in books. And in magazines. Louise Fili knew this—and this came from her collection. Also, this is the very item reproduced on page 137 of Scripts. Historic!
