Mit den besten Wünschen für das Jahr 1971 (Hermann Zapf)

With best wishes for the year 1971, Hermann Zapf wrote out the thoughts of Albrecht Dürer that translate to “Without measurement or a conscious understanding of good proportions, no good picture can arise. For a good picture must be made with great effort, labor, diligence, and careful consideration.” And then he included a magic square from Dürer’s “Melencolia I.” And then he signed and dated it on behalf of Gudrun.
