The Elements of Lettering

$100.00

Fudge. We just typed out a long description and accidentally navigated away from the page without hitting SAVE. That’s sloppy web craft. Sigh. Let’s see. OK. What we have here is the first edition of the 20th century’s foundational book on lettering by Americans. Written by John Howard Benson and Arthur Graham Carey of the John Stevens Shop in Newport, Rhode Island, and printed under the direction of D.B. Updike at his Merrymount Press in Boston, four years after they designed this half dollar. The Elements of Lettering is part guidebook and part philosophical approach to the craft of letters and the craft of work. Loaded with charming and useful illustrations.
