[a letter from F.H. Ehmcke]
Picture it: The acclaimed German graphic artist, illustrator, type designer, stamp designer, and book designer Fritz Helmuth Ehmcke has to set straight acclaimed Belgian painter and graphic artist Frans Masereel about something. What that something is, we can’t really say. It concerns an international arts organization and exhibition. (Also: Did you know that Notes app on an iPhone can convert handwriting to text?) Anyway, in 1955 Ehmcke didn’t have email and it cost a fortune to make international phone calls, so he sent a letter. This one.
Update: This will now be accompanied by an English translation by Inge Druckrey. (She wrote a book about Ehmcke and others.)
