Um. Do you have any idea what this is? It’s a typed letter from Lucian Bernhard to F.H. Ehmcke, sure. But in this letter Bernhard accuses the Berthold foundry of ripping off his poster lettering and issuing their Block. Scandal! We don’t have time to look into this further, but we are intrigued. Bernhard is asking Ehmcke for help in the matter, but, annoyingly, the letter is incomplete. Still, a fascinating document about type design’s oldest profession: Piracy. And a neat example of Lucian Bernhard’s letterhead.
