B. Franklin: Celebrating 200 years of his Genius (Paul Rand)
Calling all Franklophiles. It’s 1990 and time to celebrate 200 years of Benjamin Franklin and his genius. Here’s what we think happened: Paul Rand designed a handsome poster in a few colors—but it couldn’t be decided which colors to use. So a scheme was figured out so that four posters each in two colors for a total of five colors (gray, black, brick red, brown, and blue) could all be printed on one press sheet. Or maybe he knew what he wanted and just figured out a way to trick the client into paying for four different posters. We’ll never know. Still, here’s the handsome blue and brick red option.
