Concourse: A Typeface by and for the Bronx
This one was developed as part of the Working Knowledge: Shared Imaginings, New Futures exhibit at the Bronx Museum in 2025. As part of the exhibition, Space Type Continuum designed a new typeface inspired by the Bronx Museum, its Teen Council members, and the architecture, culture, and community of the Grand Concourse neighborhood of the Bronx. Created in collaboration with the local community and incorporated into the visual language of Working Knowledge, this work explores how type design can engage and reflect the story of a community and its people. Part cultural study and part type specimen and part of the reason the Yankees suck. (Just kidding. We don’t care one way or the other about the Yankees, but Bostonians are required by law to type “Yankees suck” any time the Bronx is mentioned.)
