Inside Paragraphs: typographic fundamentals
We made sure we had this book on our shelf and ready to go on our very first day. It’s been an important part of this little gallery—and it was a featured player in our third exhibition. Of this book Matthew Carter writes, “Unlike most typography books, which focus on the letters, [this book] concentrates on the negative spaces in between (within letters, between letters, between words, between lines). The goal is to help students train their eyes to see text as typographers do.” Of this book we write, “Along with Detail in Typography, this book is essential reading for every graphic designer and every decent person who wants their words to work as well and look as good as possible. No joke.”
