Eizo Hirayama and Kazuko Hirayama: Two Artists Who Roamed the Worlds of Nature, Images, and Picture Books
This book charts the artistic trajectories of two Japanese artists, Eizo (1933–2020) and Kazuko Hirayama (1934–2022), by presenting a number of their works, especially those that have never been published in books or picture books. Known primarily as artists of the picture book, the two made and left behind innumerable sketches, practice pieces, illustrations for magazines, playful scribbles, and portraits of autumn leaves. These works, collected in this volume, delineate their lives and work as two travelers in the world of image-making even more vividly than those that were published in their lifetimes. Observing nature intently, the two were true partners in art. Comes with a separate booklet with an English translation. A total beauty.
