Engelberg Trübsee (Herbert Matter)

There are, in a sense, two versions of this piece made to encourage skiing at Engelberg: there is the giant poster that often sells for thousands of dollars and the smaller brochure which is hardly ever seen. This is the latter, made to be discarded—and apparently it was, because copies are nowhere. Designed by Herbert Matter in 1935, this 4-panel brochure is infinitely less expensive to frame than the 25 x 40-inch poster and only slightly different. The poster has some line art, but the cropping in this brochure is more dynamic. A rare item.
