“Everywhere I Go”: The Sketchbooks of Cyrus Highsmith
For the past thirty years or so, letter drawer, teacher, author, and graphic artist Cyrus Highsmith carried a sketchbook with him almost every where he went. He drew letters, chairs, tools, bunnies, friends and students, and Darth Vader. He was following lines, working out ideas, and observing the world around him. (He’s not dead. He’s still doing this.) Now all these sketchbooks have found a home at the Providence Public Library where they’ll be on display from October 1 through December 31, 2025. This slender volume published to coincide with the exhibition contains a select showing of spreads with comments by Cyrus. Pure delight.
