Graphic Design Manual: Principles and Practice (Armin Hofmann)
We get a lot of libraries from designers. But you know what book we never get from designers? This one. They always keep their copy. That’s fine. After sixty years it is still in print and we are glad to make fresh copies available. Armin Hofmann’s richly varied work is recognized for its reliance on the fundamental elements of graphic form—point, line, and shape—and the economic use of color and fonts. We’ve been reading our own copy for a few minutes each night before dinner. And because it’s in German, French, and English, we were two-thirds finished before we even started. But good luck getting your hands on our copy. It’s one we’ll keep until we aren’t worth keeping.
Side note: In the 8th pic above, there is a black-and-white reproduction of a litho. That original litho is in this.
