Kwadraat-Blad 26: nu 2 (Willem Sandberg)

Here’s a beautiful little book by Willem Sandberg that came to us from the collection of Alvin Eisenman and it bears his signature (in pencil) on the inside cover. But once you get past that, the rest of the book is a delightful assault of writing, type, paper, lettering, and illustration. It’s part of the Kwadraat-Bladen series (or, Quadrat-Print or Feuille-Cadrat or Quadrat-Blatt) from steendrukkerij de Jong & Co., and as such is a quad-lingual model of printing, design, and what is possible (when a printer says you can do anything).
