Printers Ornaments, Applied to the Composition of Decorative Borders, Panels, and Patterns

$300.00

A long time ago we gave a copy of this book to a girlfriend. Maybe for Valentine’s Day? We can’t remember. Let’s say it was Valentine’s Day and that not long after she broke up with us. What were we thinking?! This book by Frederic Warde is for maniacs. We essentially called her crazy—and that was way before we weren’t supposed to use that word. Anyway, this book is a bonkers showing of what could be done with Monotype ornaments as applied to the borders, panels, and patterns. Consider it a precursor to this. Although many of the glyphs used in the book have digital equivalents, we’ve always found doing this sort of thing on the computer to be a drag. Fortunately we once read this and, convinced by its wisdom, have largely abandoned ornaments unless forced. Anyway (again), this is a remarkable item.
