Professor Dr. h.c. Walter Tiemann

$60.00

On September 12, 1951, Walter Tiemann died in Leipzig after a long illness. With him, the light of one of the most powerful figures in 20th-century German book and type design went out. Germany still could boast about its excellent type and book designers among the younger generation, but after the passing of Peter Behrens, Rudolf Koch, E.R. Weiss, and now Walter Tiemann, the light was a little dimmer. This book was printed as a tribute in 1953. Tiemann never got to see it (because he was dead) but it’s a lovely thing and a good introduction to his work. Even if you can’t read German, there’s still much to see and learn. (And our phone just translated the first two pages for us. You can easily read this with the $1,000 super-computer in your pocket.)
