That's all we needed to know that this would be a smart and essential tool. But allow us to quote from the prospectus, which declares this: “A book of utmost importance for the theory and aesthetics of typefaces. A work that, through precise analysis, reveals the original foundations that have been overlooked for centuries. A textbook that far surpasses previous efforts in the field of typography.” Jeez. Boast much? Still, this is a fantastic reference ripe for stealing from. It ends with a handsome set of roman caps that someone should turn into a face if it’s not been done already. A like-new copy of one of the foundational classics of lettering and type design, this one belonged to Max Caflisch and has his penciled comments and notations (in German) throughout.
