Rudolf Koch and the Offenbach Workshop
You know these silhouettes from 1918’s Die Schriftgießerei im Schattenbild (The Typefoundry in Silhouette) but here we have them arranged with care for a poster promoting a 1980 seminar about Rudolf Koch’s work. The red lettering was by Stephen Harvard and the black lettering is by Lance Hidy, who designed the poster. (Someone should turn those black caps into a proper face.) Incidentally, Stephen, Lance, and Jean each have envelopes in our current show. But that’s neither here nor there. This lovely poster celebrates of two things: the Koch seminar and a time when there were seminars about Koch.
