Schriften und Schriftobjekte von Hans Schmidt

$200.00

Somewhere we have a nice little ephemeral piece by Hans Schmidt. But let’s start with this striking poster he designed when he had a show of lettering and letter-objects at the University of Mainz, Department of Art Education, in 1981. POP! (This one really pops.) And it references nicely the three-dimensional letters he was making even though this was a two-dimensional poster. We’d show you some of his three-dimensional letters if we could figure out how to photograph that aforementioned ephemeral piece. Anyway, we’re very fond of this one. We can’t tell how it was printed, though. It’s either a very good 2-color silkscreen or an OK 2-color offset job. The type in the lower right is a little fuzzy like silkscreen. Our eyes aren’t what they once were, though. And are fingers aren’t as sensitive either. We might not be able to feel ink like we once could. (Don’t worry. We’ll raise these issues with our doctor in January.)
