Shallowford: A Memoir of the Early Years (Barry Moser)
This is a limited edition of Barry’s critically acclaimed memoir We Were Brothers (Algonquin Books of Chapel Hill, 2015). Brothers Barry and Tommy Moser were born of the same parents in Chattanooga, Tennessee, slept in the same bedroom, went to the same school, and were both poisoned by their family’s deep racism and anti-Semitism. But as they grew older, their perspectives and their paths grew further and further apart. Barry left Chattanooga for New England and a life in the arts, becoming an acclaimed illustrator and designer; Tommy stayed put and became a mortgage banker. This is their story—which we read way back when it was first published and it’s as relevant as it is informative. Also, it comes with a self-portrait by Barry—his very first lithograph—that is signed, numbered, and laid in the book (which is also signed and numbered).
