The Works of Yoshio Hayakawa

$120.00

This one is a comprehensive retrospective of one of the most influential figures in Japanese post-war graphic design. This collection showcases Hayakawa’s unique ability to fuse traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern, Western-influenced abstraction. Known for his bold use of color, geometric precision, and lyrical sensitivity, the book features his iconic poster designs, corporate identities, and illustrations. We tend to think we don’t like his work, but as we flipped through, we kept finding things that caught our eye. As a result, we’ve included more pics than usual for this book. It’s really better than we expected and we now are (in spite of ourselves) admirers of Hayakawa’s work. Loaded with pics, this one comes from the library of Toshi Katayama.
