10th New York Film Festival (Josef Albers)

$1,000.00

According to The Prints of Josef Albers (2010),

Vera List was an art collector from Connecticut. In 1961 the List family foundation made a grant of $200,000 [which is $2.5 million today] to the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to commission artists to design posters for Lincoln Center events. In 1967 List, together with Boston art dealers Barbara Krakow and Portia Harcus, formed HKL, Ltd., a commercial enterprise that produced artists’ posters.

This is one of those posters. It was designed and illustrated by Josef Albers and printed by Sirocco Screenprints in New Haven under the direction of Ives-Sillman. It’s one of 200 unsigned posters. There were an additional number that were signed by Albers, but The Prints of Josef Albers says the number is unknown. A real dazzler.
