[3 modernist bookplates]
Check out these beauties. They’re bookplates that were apparently printed by Jahoda & Siegel in Vienna—or so the pencil notations on the back would suggest. Founded by Georg Jahoda and Friedrich Siegel in 1893, the firm lasted until it was “Aryanized” in 1938 and the Jahodas and Siegels emigrated to the States. But before all that, they printed these striking plates. We’ve not been able to confirm the designer or who these were made for. Google has made suggestions, but it would be irresponsible to repeat what they said. Someone more ambitious should take on this project. Or, someone should just enjoy these typographic stunners for what they are.
