[a cap A cut by Philip Surey]
What a pleasure are hand-cut letters. This one was cut by Philip Surey, a 1996 graduate of the City & Guilds of London Art School who later assisted Richard Kindersley and Ralph Beyer in their shops before going out on own as a sculptor and letter carver. (We keep an alphabet carved by Phil above our desk.) Now, this totally fierce cap A was carved with no purpose save for to see what would happen and what a letter would look like on a jagged piece of Riven Welsh slate. A feral letter carved with total control. This A is for Awesome. (Or, if your first name begins with an A, it could be for that, too.)
- Size: About 9 × 10.5 × 0.875 inches
