[a letter from Rob Roy Kelly]
Before the Kansas City Art Institute combined its graphic design and industrial design departments into one program and Rob Roy Kelly moved away from KC in 1974, he had to get a message to Preston McClanahan at RISD. The internet was down, so he sent this letter. We can’t say with any certainty what the letter is about, but we can say with certainty that the Swiss-trained Kelly had a sharp sheet for sharing his thoughts via snail mail.
