Did we ever tell you about the time we bough a bunch of bookplates at auction? We were led to believe the bunch included a few by a designer we admired. We were misled. The work of that designer was nowhere to be found. It just included designs by someone with the exact same uncommon name. What we largely ended up with was a collection of erotic bookplates made by devotees to the art of ex libris sexyus. We’re telling you this for two reasons: 1. We really didn’t have much to say about this item, and 2. We did not plan to offer this erotic item. Some dick thrust it upon us. It promotes a portfolio by Wang Hui-Ming who was born in the Republic of China in 1922, taught at Yale from 1951–61, then at UMass Amherst from 1964 to 1989, illustrated a Gehenna Press book, made this woodcut with a parable about perspective in 1968, and died in 2006.
