[a silkscreened ad for Masta Displays, Inc.]

$18.00

Joseph J. Grossman, who played a major role in the growth of silk‐screen printing, died in May 1974, apparently of heart attack. He was 65 years old and lived at 1016 East Ninth Street, Brooklyn. Mr. Grossman, who was employed as a commercial artist early in his career, had a company, Masta Displays, Inc. He was a founding member and president of the Screen Process Printing Association of New York and president of the Screen Process Printing Association, International. Mr. Grossman was a director of the Advertising Club of New York. His grandson came up with this classic illustration for Airplane! This is a silkscreen-printed ad for the snior Grossman’s Masta Displays. It’s from the collection of Louise Fili—and this is also the very item reproduced on pages 296 and 297 of Scripts. Historic!
