Ben Shahn (Lorenzo Homar)
There’s gonna be show of Ben Shahn’s work in San Juan, Puerto Rico. And it’s going to open seven days before Shahn dies. Coincidence? This obviously calls for a beautiful multi-color silkscreen poster by Lorenzo Homar. Also, the following is swiped from the Poster House site. They had a show of Homar’s posters that you just missed: “Lorenzo Homar was a pioneering printmaker, poster designer, calligrapher, painter, illustrator, caricaturist, and costume and theatrical set designer. Active from the 1950s through the 1990s, few equal his impact and influence as a teacher of poster design and printmaking in Latin America.” This is one of those pioneering posters.
