Bukichi Inoue: My Sky Hole
This monograph provides a rigorous mid-career survey of Bukichi Inoue’s environmental sculptures. Unlike standard exhibition catalogs, this volume emphasizes the technical and spatial relationship between his “My Sky Hole” series and the diverse urban landscapes they inhabit, from Tokyo to Rome. The book is lauded for its high-quality monochrome (mostly) photography and detailed site drawings that illustrate how Inoue’s mirrored spheres and subterranean voids function as architectural apertures. A nice thing at which to look and from which to consider possibilities. From the library of Toshi Nakayma.
