[Dwiggins letterhead + envelope with note from Dorothy Abbe]

$200.00

Zip codes were introduced in 1963. They were made mandatory in 1967. W.A. Dwiggins died in 1956. So, these were designed by WAD for personal correspondence when he lived in Hingham, Massachusetts, but they were adapted by Dorothy Abbe to include the zip code for Hingham. This was mailed by Dorothy Abbe to the designer Howard Gralla on June 10, 1980. Howard had given a talk about Dwiggins at Stinehour Press on June 7. She’d already sent him another letter on June 9 and in this one she had to admit she got something wrong. Too bad they didn’t have “unsend” back then.
