Formal Penmanship and other papers

Although he could have quit with the publication of Writing & Illuminating, & Lettering and known that he’d made a gigantic contribution to writing and illuminating and lettering, towards the end of his life Edward Johnston intended to set down the fruits of his experience in a further book to be called Formal Penmanship. He worked on it for some fifteen years, but at his death in 1944 the book remained unfinished. Heather Child took what remained and whipped it into shape. We all owe her one. Loaded with diagrams and illustrations and good stuff to look at, read, and think about.
