Gladiola
When one works on books about slabs, stencils, shadows, and scripts, one needs a lot of examples around. Like, when Louise Fili was working on Scripts, she picked up this specimen of Martin Wilke’s Gladiola for Stempel. At the time it was an attractive type with the charm and grace that are appealing to the sense of beauty. Or, so sayeth the front of this specimen. Pretty as a picture and from the collection of Louise Fili—and this is the very item reproduced on pages 304 and 305 of Scripts. Historic!
