Josef Albers: Werke auf Papier

$100.00

You know Josef Albers and his paintings. His works on paper, though, impressively document the ambition to enable an inexhaustible diversity of visual reality through the image, to challenge and activate seeing through the constant deception of the eye, and thus to lead the viewer to an experience of themselves. We’ve no idea what any of that means, so we’ll just say this: In the late 1990s there was an exhibition of Josef’s works on paper in Germany. This is the catalogue. And because we here in the States tend not to read German, this book never really made it over here. If the text is anything like the second sentence in this description, though, it’s better that you don’t read it. Just look at the pics. If you don’t want to pull out a piece of paper and a pen, pencil, crayon, etc. and get to work, we’ll give you your money back.* From the library of Inge Druckrey.
