Lance Hidy’s Posters (Arno Werner, Bookbinder)
It’s December of 1984. The month starts with NASA and the FAA intentionally crashing a Boeing 720 into the Mojave Desert and ends with Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen losing his left arm. In between, Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” goes to No. 1 on the charts and Lance Hidy has a show of his posters at the University of Connecticut. To mark the occasion (The poster show. Not “Like a Virgin.”) Lance produces this poster celebrating both his show and his friend Arno Werner. A striking portrait of a master bookbinder and a nice showcase of Lance’s pre-Penumbra lettering.
