Matthew Carter: a+z diptych
Q: What begins with a and ends with z?
A: This pair of etchings by Matthew Carter.
Made in preparation for the monumental a–z portfolio published by Center Street Studio in 2016, this pair of hand-printed aquatints feature Matthew Carter’s stunning lowercase a from his presently-unreleased Big Fry and a z inspired by a sixteenth-century italic attributed to the French punchcutter Pierre Haultin. While it’s true that letters are things and not pictures of things, these things are picture-perfect. Frame and hang these on your wall for your moment of zen.
Note: These are shipped flat and packed with extra care. As a result, the shipping costs are higher than usual. We don’t mess around with these.
