Merkbuch für das Jahr 1901
Today we had a class from MassArt come to look for inspiration as they prepare to work on calendars that double as type specimens. That made us think of this one featuring Otto Eckmann’s eponymous Rudhard’sche Gießerei face from 1900. It’s loaded with his ornaments and borders and illustrations by someone with the initials “RE.” (We’ve done our half-assed best to figure out who RE is and have had no luck.) This calendar was for 1901 and will next be useful (as a calendar) in 2029. Buy now. Save for later. WorldCat reports that only the University of Amsterdam has a copy.
- Size: 7 × 12.625 inches
- Pages: 20
- Binding: Sewn pamphlet
- Language: German
- Condition: The cover is chipped, creased, soiled, and stained—like you’re going to be when you’re 124 years old. The paper is still supple and not at all brittle. Inside shows a small stain where the cover has a bigger spot. Otherwise pretty very good.
