Schriftkunde Schreibübungen und Skizzieren (Jan Tschichold)

$150.00

Conceived as a model for calligraphy, writing exercises, and sketching for typesetters and graphic designers, this book compiles various works on those topics that were published elsewhere—some of them quite a while ago. They are the culmination of many years of pedagogical experience and appear here, insofar as they repeat an earlier, now out-of-print work by the author, with numerous improvements and entirely new illustrations. At least, that’s what is translated from the foreword. In reality (if your reality is that you don’t read German), it’s a lovely visual primer of those topics, featuring plenty of examples of Tschichold’s own lettering and calligraphy—along with loads more by others. Although loaded with words, it’s a looker. Look with care and you can still take away the lessons Tschichold is trying to convey. From the library of Inge Druckrey.
