So gefällst Du mir
When one works on books about slabs, stencils, shadows, and scripts, one needs a lot of examples around. Like, when Louise Fili was working on Scripts, she picked up this cinema program for the German film So gefällst Du mir (I Like You That Way), released in 1941. The program was published as part of the Illustrierter Film-Kurier series, which was the most prominent cinema publication in Germany during the first half of the 20th century. And check out that loopy script on the front. So nice. This fragile, gravure-printed piece is loaded with pics inside. If you missed the film and can’t find it to stream, this is a good substitute from the collection of Louise Fili—and this is the very item reproduced on page 144 of Scripts. Historic!
