Symbols Signs Letters

$40.00

This one combines Professor Martin Andersch’s observations on the state of lettering in the twentieth century (circa 1989) with exquisite and elegantly reproduced examples of calligraphy produced in his classes. Discussing the origins and evolution of letters, from the hand-carved and hand-drawn to typographic and computer-generated alphabets, Andersch notes the expressive potential of lettering in all its forms. This’ll serve as a source of education and inspiration for calligraphers, fine artists, and designers seeking new means of conveying thoughts and emotions through the visual. Loaded with limit-pushing lettering.

The book itself is fine—although it looks like they did a sloppy job of applying the label to the spine and there is some grown glue showing. The jacket is very good with minor soiling and bumps. It ’s in protective mylar and looks fresh.
