Syntax-Antiqua, a Sans Serif on a New Basis

We’ve got this in our Type Specimens but it’s not really a type specimen. It’s an offprint from the July issue of Gebrauchsgraphik, and it’s all about Syntax. It’s analysis of forms of the then-new face and comparisons with other types of faces. Erich Schulz-Anker, Manager of Typographic Development of D. Stempel AG, discusses the specific properties of the faces and calls attention to his idea that Hans Eduard Meier’s face was No. 1.
