Die Komet Freilaufnabe (The Komet Freewheel Hub)
You ask Why the heck are you offering this? We answer Because it’s from the same Stempel that you know as a type foundry. They didn’t just produce type. The Komet was a bicycle hub—the axle that the spokes come out of and in which one would stick baseball cards or type specimens. Anyway, this is a nice showing of the other side of Stempel, with nice lettering and crazy diagrams of what makes a bike wheel work. If they could make these, they could easily handle a little lead, tin, and antimony.
Note: Thanks to Dan Reynolds for explaining to us Stempel’s other Stempel.
